The Pan Am Historical Web Site was created Tuesday June 20, 1995 and is owned and operated by information systems technology incorporated. The site is operated, pro bono publico, to help preserve the heritage of Pan American World Airways (1927-1991) and the dedicated men and women who made her one of the influential forces of the Twentieth Century. The site also endevors to provide services and assistance to the retirees and employees of Pan Am (1927-1991).

This site operates on Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 and Microsoft Internet Information Server Ver 4.0 using Active Server Page technology. The site was designed using Microsoft Internet Explorer Ver 4.0 and tested with Microsoft Internet Explorer Vers 3.0, 5.0 and 5.5 and several version of Netscape Navigator/Communicator, Vers 3.0, 4.0 and 4.5. It is optimized for a HiColor (16 bit) VGA display at 640 x 480 (65,000 colors), but has been tested with configurations of 800 x 600 (256 colors) and better.

At various times, the site may use a number of extended features including FRAMES, STYLESHEETS, DHTML, etc. We have made effort to make the site render properly in other browsers such as Netscape. However, there are significant differences in the way each browser handles items such as Frames, Fonts, Colors, Tables, etc., and these may not always display the same in all browsers.

Principal fonts used on the site are Arial and Verdana, both of which are available for both Windows and Macintosh. These fonts may be downloaded for free from the Microsoft Typography Site. In addition, you may download the Windows 95/Windows NT Font Smoother utility that will help eliminate the "jaggies" on many displays.
